开发阶段表明一本教科书到一个确切日期的进展。他们使读者集中对全面教科书的注意，亦使读者注意作者完善教科书的工作需要帮助。

一个教科书标题旁边的小日期表明该书的开发阶段最后被维基教科书用户评估的日期。例如：
- 教科书名称
（2009年1月1日）
- 这意味着这本教科书2009年1月1日被评估时完成了50%。
- 章名称
- 这意味着这一章完成了75%（用鼠标指向小图标，你就可以看到这个阶段的评估日期）

You can assign development stages too. It is easy, and helps new readers to quickly find comprehensive books of interest.
You can use one of the following two templates:
{{stage|25%|Jan 11, 2005}}

- {{stage|25%|Jan 11, 2005}} will give the stage box with small date: （Jan 11, 2005）
- (clicking on the date links you to this page you are reading right now.)
{{stage short|25%|Jan 11, 2005}}
- {{stage short|25%|Jan 11, 2005}} will give only the stage box:
- (Note that also the second version shows the date when you place the mouse over the picture.)
- Use the first version for the bookshelf pages (so people can quickly see when this assignment was made).
- Use the second version for the templates of the main page.
- You can use either of them in your Wikibooks to indicate the progress of your chapters.
- Note that five tildes (~~~~~) will add a timestamp. Use {{stage|25%|~~~~~}} to get （16:04, 14 September 2007 (UTC)）
